The last pope before the END? or is it Beginning?

ROME (Reuters) - Pope Benedict surprised the world on Monday by saying he no longer had the mental and physical strength to cope with the demands of his ministry, becoming the first pontiff to step down since the Middle Ages and leaving his aides "incredulous".

This is crazy. First pope to resign since 1415 AD. Why wouldn't he serve until he died? That's kind of the point isn't it?
Too frail to work huh? Where's your god now, Ratzinger?
If the next guys name is Peter, I'm head'n for the hills! ;)

Please refresh my memory. I don't have enough coffee in me yet. Pope Peter is a reference to which prophecy/prediction?

Saint Malachy's prophecy of the popes.

Gloria Oliveae is believed to be Benedict, glory of the olives or the Order of the Olive.

Thanks!

Let's add Ratzinger to the short list of Ark ticket holders shall we? lol. Hillary Clinton comes to mind, Queen Beatrix...

Also, I couldn't help but think of this epic quit, from another man in a slightly less funny hat. I just picture ol' Ratzinger convening the cardinals and saying this in latin:

This is very early but, Timothy Dolan mentioned as possible successor of Pope Benedict

I however do not believe he will be picked. His highly conservative views won't fit well with the New Evangelized Order.
He's clearing the way for the anti-Christ.

lol
This is big. There's definitely going to be some major fallout for the Catholic church from this... maybe the pedophilia thing is on an even much larger scale than many can imagine?? Or maybe the Church is about to be exposed for directly funding some (more) WAR(s) or terrorist organizations?? Who knows, but there's gotta be major fallout coming. I don't buy that I'm too old and frail to be the Pope anymore. That's not the way it works in Catholicism... it's for life!!!

I attended 8 years of catholic grade school and 4 years of catholic high school.

When I was a teen I used to think to myself... why are there so many effeminate priests teaching high school?

I woke up to the farce/hypocrisy of the catholic religion when I was in my early 20's.
Purely speculation here. Tim Dolan would be the first American to be appointed Pope, if in fact he will be.

America is regarded as anything BUT "Holy" therefore, could be said that it is the antithesis of Rome..

Being Archbishop/Cardinal of New York, one of the Churches he oversees...

It's not the religion, but imperfect men who misrepresent it.
Peter of Rome will be the last pope, according to St. Malachi.

Rather strange, wouldn't surprise me if TPTB use this event to some advantage, similar to 9/11 if indeed this is planned to coincide with a bigger agenda? Guess we'll have to wait and see.....

Perhaps the beginning of the end of the church as we know it? A rejoining of the Protestant / Catholic faiths? or Aliens are coming..... :) or Georgia guide stone crew gearing up? or the Book of Revelation / St Malachy prophecy is real... or... used as a script by tptb? All speculation...

Is it normal for popes to resign?

It is the first time a pope has resigned in nearly 600 years.

The last pope to resign was Pope Gregory XII in 1415. He stepped down to end the "Great Western Schism" -- during which there were rival claims to the papal throne.

According to the National Catholic Weekly, modern popes have felt that resignation is unacceptable and could encourage factions within the church to pressure pontiffs to step down.

Canon law states that a resignation must be made freely and properly manifested and that the pope resigning must be of sound mind.

Is that Peter Turkson dude really on the list? That would be rather interesting...

Final Pope Prophecy - Peter the Roman:
112 Peter the Roman, who will nourish the sheep in many tribulations; when they are finished, the city of seven hills will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The end.

Biggest news in quite a while, this is. Ya know... maybe it really IS a seriously life threatening frailty that Benedict is suffering from... like, maybe he got AIDS from one of the kids he diddled. Or maybe it's just a terribly crippling case of anal warts.

... im sad for him ;(
sneif!
Gosh, I sooooooo hope Lindsey Williams gets the nod.
oh well... I hope old benedicto gets a good send off party from his alter boys. You may not realize this, but he is LITERALLY one of the most blessed kid rapers ever. In world history, he is one of the great ones. I wish I was about 20 years younger, maybe he'd think I'm foxy... ya know? Quite a legacy.

He is on the list, what they call "papibile". However, I don't think the term "the black pope" actually means a black man...

Just say'n.

But, he would ultimately take a different name, I think it means someone will take the name Peter, which so far, no one has had the balls to take that name since Jesus appointed Peter himself to head the Church.

I think they should consider me for Pope. I'd be good, I'm Italian and so forth.. :)

Wouldn't that'd be cool?!

What name would I take. HMMMM, lemme think..
i hear you get great slippers as pope. not to mention sex with boys.
