Colombia's 'sleeping lion' Nevado del Ruiz volcano stirs. The Nevado del Ruiz volcano in central Colombia has been releasing plumes of ash and smoke over the last few days.

While authorities say the activity is not a cause for concern, some residents of nearby villages are not so confident.

25,000 people died in mudslides triggered by an eruption of the volcano in 1985.

As usual, the government says, nothing to worry about.
