College education in the United States has become a cruel joke. We endlessly push our high school kids to invest tens of thousands of dollars and at least four years of their lives to get a college education because they won’t have any sort of a “future” without it. So they sign up for decades of debt slavery and spend years listening to pompous windbags fill their heads with utter nonsense. The sad truth is that most college courses are a total joke and they do very little to actually prepare those students for the real world. I know – I attended public universities in the United States for eight years. Most college courses are so easy that the family dog could pass them. When they finally graduate, our young people discover that they were lied to all along. The promised “good jobs” are not there for most of them, but the huge debts that they committed themselves to will follow them around permanently. When you are just starting out and you are not making a lot of money, having to make payments on tens of thousands of dollars of student loan debt can be absolutely crippling. This is why I say that college education in America is a giant money making scam. Our young people are seduced by the idea of college being a five year party that will provide an automatic ticket into the middle class, but the reality is that the only guarantee is that it is a ticket to serfdom unless you have wealthy parents that are willing to foot the bill for you. And bankruptcy laws have been changed to make it incredibly difficult to get rid of student loan debt, so once you have signed up for student loan debt slavery you are basically faced with two choices: either you are going to pay it or you are going to die with it.

Yes, college graduates do make more money and they do have a lower unemployment rate. But most of them are also burdened by absolutely suffocating levels of student loan debt that will haunt them for decades.

So who is really better off?

If you can get someone to pay for your college education that is great. Because otherwise you are probably getting a rotten deal. The following are 29 shocking facts that prove that college education in America is a giant money making scam…

#1 In 1993, the average student loan debt burden at graduation was $9,320. Today it is $28,720.

#2 In 1989, only 9 percent of all U.S. households were paying off student loan debt. Today, 19 percent of all U.S. households are.

#3 Young households are being hit particularly hard by student loan debt. In America today, 40 percent of all households that are led by someone under the age of 35 are paying off student loan debt. Back in 1989, that figure was below 20 percent.

#4 According to the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, Americans owe more than a trillion dollars on their student loans...

Indoctrination is a very powerful thing. These kids have been brainwashed by the system, but so have their parents. And the stupid parents of these text message addicted flunkies keep coughing up the cash and/or co-signing these student loans... it's insane.

#1 In 1993, the average student loan debt burden at graduation was $9,320. Today it is $28,720. For what online degrees? -lol. IMO, that number is much higher. Over the last 10 years prices have increased over 1000% for so called "Ivy league" schools.

Most of these new college graduates will not be able to find a job, not even at McDonald's. When you count everyone who has fallen off the dole, the real unemployment rate is in between 20-23%, and that number is only going to get bigger. The US is in big, BIG trouble.

Forget about "occupying" everything, it will not change anything... what we need to do is DEFAULT on everything. Stop paying taxes and remove all your cash from the banks. I guarantee that will change something.

Thumbs Down Obama Community College Tuition Plan Said to Cost $60 Billion A Giant Scam

January 9, 2014

President Barack Obama’s plan to provide a free community college education to millions of students would cost $60 billion over 10 years, according to a White House official.

Obama is set to unveil the proposal today at a community college in Tennessee, which provides free tuition for community and technical college for the state’s high school graduates.

The plan, which requires action by the Republican-controlled Congress, would provide about three-quarters of the average cost of community college tuition with states kicking in the rest, according to a White House fact sheet.

THE COLLEGE THAT WANTS TO BAN ‘HISTORY:’

0
“Students at Western Washington University have reached a turning point in their campus’s hxstory. (For one thing, they’re now spelling it with an X—more on that later.),” Reason’s Robby Soave writes at the Daily Beast:

At the heart of this effort lies a bizarrely totalitarian ideology: Student-activists think they have all the answers—everything is settled, and people who dissent are not merely wrong, but actually guilty of something approaching a crime. If they persist in this wrongness, they are perpetuating violence, activists will claim.

The list of demands ends with a lengthy denunciation of WWU’s marginalization of “hxstorically oppressed students.” The misspelling is intentional: “hxstory,” I presume, was judged to be more PC than “history,” which is gendered, triggering, and perhaps violent. It’s easy for me to laugh at these clumsy attempts to make language obey the dictates of political correctness—but I laugh from a position of relative safety, since I am not a WWU professor.

On the other hand, if a member of campus were to insist on the proper spelling of the word, would he or she (or xe) have to answer to the Committee for Social Transformation?

Of course, Western Washington University banning history is on top of most colleges replacing traditional history courses with what Australian historian Geoffrey Blainey dubbed “Black Armband History,” where it’s nothing but grievances all the way down. But it sounds like Western Washington University has left that behind as it enters into “Starting From Zero” territory, as Tom Wolfe would say. At some point, the great relearning Wolfe promised will begin – and the longer it’s delayed, the more painful it’s going to be.

Student loan defaults hit $121 billion; 40% of all borrowers not making payments
0

DETROIT – Federal student loan defaults have hit an astounding $121 billion, with about 40 percent of all borrowers not currently making any payments, according to a government report.

“This is a slow-moving disaster,” Jason Delisle, director of the Federal Education Budget Project at New America, told the Detroit Free Press. “Why no hearings on Capitol Hill? Why isn’t the administration talking about it more?”

The U.S. Department of Education highlighted the report in a self-congratulatory news release about an increase in the number of students who are enrolling in income-based repayment programs. In December 2015, there were 4.6 million borrowers using income-based repayment plans, which represents a 48 percent increase from the year prior, and a 140 percent increase from two years ago, according to the news site.

“Today’s analysis suggests that the administration’s efforts to help struggling borrowers are having a positive impact,” U.S. Education Secretary John King Jr. said. “While we see promising signs of progress, we know we have to work to do to ensure that every borrower in distress has a clear path to avoid default.

And I will continue to fight to ensure that students have access to an affordable education that helps them get ahead, rather than drowning in debt.”
