Editor's Note: Superstorm Sandy smashed ashore last night, triggering floods, fires and devastation. Twenty-nine people are known to have died in the U.S. and one in Canada, adding to the storm’s earlier toll of 67. Millions are without power. Floods have hit homes and the New York subway system. The media still overhyped it, no doubt about it. Media was predicting 70-100mph sustained winds... that never happened. The storm came during high tide, which made it much worse. Winds in my area were nothing like they were predicting. Katrina was 100x worse. The media automatically focuses on and amplifies any/all the destruction they can find, throw it in peoples faces 24hours a day and you lick it up like a good little gloom and doomer.

Sandy aside, unbanning you was another huge mistake. You do nothing except insult people and cause trouble. You would not say these things and get away with it if you were in front of my face... I guarantee that. You're just another captain keyboard tough guy just like the other jackhole. Lots of bad karma coming your way... get ready.

No doubt it was worse than I thought it would be. The high tide really made the flooding much worse. The NY subway photos are shocking.

A hoarse-voiced New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie gave bleak news at a morning news conference: Seaside rail lines washed away. No safe place on the state's barrier islands for him to land. Parts of the coast still under water.

"It is beyond anything I thought I'd ever see," he said. "It is a devastating sight right now."

The death toll from Sandy in the U.S. included several killed by falling trees. Sandy also killed 69 people in the Caribbean before making its way up the Eastern Seaboard.

Airlines canceled more than 12,000 flights. New York City's three major airports remained closed.

"This was a devastating storm, maybe the worst that we have ever experienced," New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.
