Hello all. My name is Kyle, I have been checking out this page for years, but didn't join until just now. Thought I would use my 1st post to share some artwork. I have been drawing portraits professionally for over 20 years, and using the Etch-A-Sketch professionally for almost 10. Before I make an illustration on an Etch-A-Sketch, I first drill tiny holes in the back to remove the aluminum powder from inside, rendering it non-erasable. When I am done, I crazy glue the dials locked so no one can draw over the image.

Thanks Fiat. I've enjoyed reading your posts over the years. I have in fact sent this email to the Keiser Report several times over the last year or so. Considering all the amusing, yet mediocre digital art the show has featured I thought I would be a shoe-in. ...Not even a "thanks but no thanks" reply, WTF?

How many years would you say you've been watching this site? Just curious since it's right at it's 2nd birthday give or take a few days. Didn't you say you were a corporate logo designer? How many professions do you have? Just wondering, new guys from Canada that say strange things raise a flag, but if you've been here for "years" you know why.

13vocals, thank you for your scepticism. Perhaps "years" while correct in referring more than 1 year, was not the most correct wording. I could have more specifically stated "18 months" or "year and a half or so" , as I believe my first encounter with this site was mid 2011. I have been following Joes vids on YT for much longer.

I stopped working for any corporate clients in late 2008, when the crash happened. I still produce art independently. You can check out my blog at http://etchmaster.blogspot.ca/

..or my YT channel:

I have held many careers 13vocals. Art is my passion. I have worked as a salesman for various outdoor equipment brands. I have worked as a head cook for a number of years at wilderness retreats in northern Canada, as well as acting as a private guide offering multi day canoe and hiking trips in the vast expanses of northern Canada. I consider myself a bush crafter, and one hell of a survivalist having spent 4 months of last year deeeeeep in the bush, living out of a bag.

During my off time from guiding, I come back to the city to research, distribute politically charged art, have gallery showings, blowhorn the establishment, participate in local actions, and help make videos for an independent news site:

If you have any further questions, I would be happy to indulge. You can never be too safe you know. Trolling cointelpro spooks are everywhere (not a joke).

That is fantastic. Are you looking at a picture, or drawing that from memory?

I always wanted to draw, but I don't have the talent. I've gone to the San Diego Comic Con and witnessed some of the most amazing artists in action. It always astounds me and makes me green with envy.

I play guitar and can play/ear almost song I hear... I guess that's my special gift.

...ok, you're not him. You're far too literate. Not that I'm any kind of authority, but this place has been SOOO much better lately, just want it to keep rolling that way as a community member.

Sorry, I don't follow you. "Not him" who?

Thanks again for your kind words Fiat.

Music is a wonderful gift, nurture it on the regular.

Usually when I draw a portrait I am looking at a picture. When I work fairs and festivals, I have my subject(s) sit in front of me and etch-a-sketch them live in 3-20 minutes, depending on how much they want to pay. The Max Keiser one took about 6-7 hrs.

There are certain faces I can draw from memory, but only if I've drawn them quite a few times already. I do a lot of political cartoons, so I have caricatures of world "leaders" down by memory for the most part, but simply from repetition.

btw, do YOU know who 13vocals thought I was? A certain banned member? CTDs?

Welcome to the forum mcetcher.

Awesome works on the etch a sketch. I always thought people who do this on the etchers used some other method to draw their art. My mind is blown you use the dials.

Thanks Night Owl, happy to be here.

Your suspicions are correct, a lot of people that boast etch-a-sketch art are frauds. There are all sorts of ways to cheat at it. I've heard it right from the horses' mouths. I prove my work with time-lapse vids to set myself apart from those who choose to deceive.
