RE: 7.4 Earthquake in El Salvador ( Central America )
Magnitude 7.4 earthquake hits El Salvador; tsunami warning issued.
California is not included in a tsunami warning issued Sunday night after a magnitude 7.4 earthquake off the coast of El Salvador. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued the warning for parts of El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico. But it did not extend to the United States. The temblor struck at 9:37 p.m. about 69 miles off shore. The epicenter was about 105 miles southwest of San Salvador. There were no reports of casualties or damage. The quake comes after a swarm of more than 300 quakes Sunday in Imperial County, including at least two greater than 5.0 magnitude. Those temblors caused minor damage and forced evacuations from some buildings. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/20...ornia.html Only the Strong Survives |

RE: 7.4 Earthquake in El Salvador ( Central America )
A strong magnitude-7.4 earthquake has struck off the coast of El Salvador, followed an hour later by a second, magnitude-5.4 tremor.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, authorities said early on Monday. A tsunami warning was put into effect for Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama and Mexico after the quake struck at 10.37pm on Sunday (1437 Monday AEST). David Walsh, an oceanographer with the Pacific Tsunami Centre in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, said a minor, 20cm swell was registered off Acajutla, El Salvador. The quake was located 138 kilometres south-southwest of San Miguel, the US Geological Survey reported on its web site. It took place at a depth of 53 kilometres. The second quake registered about an hour later in the same area, officials said. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8522879 Only the Strong Survives |
