This is just the biggest load of crap... what has this country come to? Wouldn't this be a case for the ACLU?

Strange story. Seems that she is probably concerned with more than just smart meters. She just may be on to something with the "society of violating each other." (TSA, strange random checkpoints, taxes) Hopefully, and with a positive mindset, we can keep it from getting too nasty.

Well, I live in Chicago, and we have refused the Smart Meter. Now, whenever the readers show up we let them in to inspect it. (It's in the basement, he NEVER sets foot inside the house).

The argument is that with automation, can come errors, and with "Smart Meters", can come the possibility that, people could be charged pennies and nickels over what they owe, because.. set it, and forget it, outta sight outta mind, and the thought of that doesn't sit well with people, me included. If there was ever a way to overcharge people for using a necessary resource, this would be the way to do it!

A friend of mine heard that in Vegas people can pay extra to have it removed by the Power company and replaced by an old school one. I think it was an extra $8 per month on top of $50 a year....

SMART Meters Only make it MUCH faster much - Sooner - THEY Can Shut off your Water/Power etcz when
your in your house automatically in an instant.

An inconvenient fact to point out in my case: When I had my fuse box and power meter switched out from an old mechanical meter to a new digital (smart?) meter, my power bill went down significantly. Seems over time those meters can start to spin differently and cause you to pay more for power than you would using a new meter. They say they don't but I don't believe it. In my case I have the proof of hundreds of dollars back in my pocket over a years time.
